Teignbridge District Council has scooped a top regional award, winning Regional Council / Local Authority of the Year at the South West Regional Energy Efficiency & Healthy Homes Awards 2017.

Berry Recruitment Group (BRG) has announced an increased turnover of £62m for 2016 – a figure that has more than doubled in the last five years. The national recruiter showed a gross profit of nearly £13m with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of £1.9m. The net cash flow generated from operations was in excess of £2.3m in the year. Exeter celebrates Armed Forces Day on Saturday (17 June) with a parade through the city centre and a military village on the Cathedral Green.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

Solid growth in new business for SW firms

South West firms enjoyed another solid month of growth supported by a boost in new orders in May, according to the latest Lloyds Bank UK Regional PMI survey.

The South West PMI fell to 53.8 in May, showing that business activity expanded at a solid pace, albeit more slowly than in April, when the PMI was at 56.7. A reading greater than 50.0 signifies growth in business activity.

Employment also rose during May as jobs were created at the quickest pace this year so far. Businesses linked job creation to an increase in demand and new orders.

Exeter Airport’s XLR executive jet centre has reported one of its busiest ever weekends after the airport hosted a clutch of executive jets for the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff and fleets of aircraft for the Torbay Air Show.

XLR usually handles three or four corporate aircraft a day on average, but over the weekend had 25. This included eight corporate jets used to ferry VIP guests to the UEFA Champions League final after all available spaces at Cardiff and Bristol Airports were taken.
