Unit 1 Exeter gives back to music makers

Local club Unit 1 Exeter is taking part in a pilot project that will help make sure artists are getting their fair share of royalties for the music they create. The club on Summerland Street is taking part in the pilot being led by music industry licensing bodies PRS for Music and PPL. With tens of thousands of holidaymakers due to descend on us over the next few weeks, the emergency services have united in a campaign aimed at keeping everyone safe on the coast.

#Coastsafe brings together safety messages issued by organisations including Devon and Cornwall Police, the RNLI, HM Coastguard, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and Cornwall Air Ambulance. Investigative works underway at former St Margaret’s School to preserve Grade II listed buildings

Sustainable property developer, Grenadier Estates, is set to commence investigative works at St Margaret’s, a former listed school in Exeter, which will create more than 40 luxury homes in the heart of the St Leonards’ Community.

Two artists are creating opportunities for people to explore, reflect on and shape the future of Exeter’s green spaces.

The artwork is part of an overall plan to improve the Riverside Valley Park, which is loved by visitors and residents of Exeter alike.

Exeter City Council, which owns the land, has identified ways to improve the Park, set out in the Riverside and Ludwell Valley Park Masterplan. Suggestions include more opportunities for adventurous play, new orchards and flower-rich meadows.

Over 80 business leaders from across the city attended Exeter Chamber of Commerce’s recent monthly networking lunch with guest speaker, Exeter MP, Ben Bradshaw.

Ben was voted back in again in on 8th June for the 6th consecutive time with an increased majority vote and the lunch gave members the opportunity to raise issues and ask questions about what is affecting their businesses. Attempted murder investigation launched after man stabbed in Tiverton

At around 11pm on Monday evening (17 July), police were informed by the ambulance service that a man in his thirties had received a stab wound to his side.

This was understood to have taken place sometime between 10.30pm and just before 11pm, probably close to the White Ball pub on Bridge Street.

The victim entered the pub from the Westexe direction requesting medical help. It was at this point staff called 999.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries the casualty was airlifted by the air ambulance to Derriford hospital in Plymouth.
