Cornish Bakery, the independent, founder-driven company first started in Mevagissey, Cornwall, has announced that it will be coming to Exeter.

New schemes a boost for housing and jobs in Devon

The Department for Transport (DfT) has confirmed funding for two major projects in Devon.

£9 million in total will help fund £15m of improvements in the key development sites, Sherford and east of Exeter.

In Sherford, the £5 million fund plus £3 million developer contributions will deliver a proposed new spine road, bus route and segregated walking and cycling route for the new community.

The route will provide the main access to the community from the A38, unlocking up to 4,200 new homes and 83,000 square metres of employment space.

More overnight closures on Bridge Road in Exeter

An overnight road closure will be needed on Bridge Road in Exeter on Wednesday (25 October) and provisionally Thursday (26 October).

The road will be closed overnight from 8:30pm and will re-open at 5:30am on Thursday morning. The closure is needed in order for road markings to be painted and for the removal of temporary traffic lights at Glasshouse Lane. Police appeal following assault in Exeter park

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident at a park in Exeter.

At around 6pm on Saturday the 7th of October, there was an altercation between three teenagers and a man near the basketball courts in Regents Park, Heavitree.

One 16-year-old and two 15-year-old boys were assaulted by a man following an argument.

The suspect is described as in his 20’s, white, around 5”8 in height and of slim build.

307 Squadron Project invite you to a number of important events taking place in Exeter on Wednesday 15th November (307 Squadron Day) to honour the Polish 307 Squadron.

307 Squadron, part of the RAF, were night-fighters who fought the Luftwaffe over the skies of Britain and prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.

This year is the 75th anniversary of when the squadron presented the city of Exeter with the Polish flag on 15th November 1942 in a sign of international cooperation.

Increased credit card limits cause bigger problems

Major new research by the Citizens Advice service finds that nearly 1 in 5 people struggling with debts have had their credit card limit raised without them requesting it - a practice the charity would like to see banned.

After the Bank of England issued a warning to lenders about how they are granting credit to consumers, leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, says poor affordability checks by firms are making people’s financial situation worse.

Consumer borrowing has risen to over £200 billion and over a third of this - £67 billion - is on credit cards....

Community Fund to donate £1,000 for winter project

Community groups, charities and schools in the Exeter area are being invited to apply for £1,000 worth of building materials to help with a winter project as part of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund.

Whether materials are needed to build a Christmas grotto, help put on a pantomime, or ensure a community centre is protected against winter weather, RGB would like to hear about it.
