Bosses are not hiring women because they ‘might start a family soon’

Nearly one in three UK bosses admit they have or would reject a female job applicant because they suspect she ‘might start a family soon’.

Although this form of employment discrimination is unlawful, 15% anonymously admitted that they had broken sex discrimination laws.

The new research of 501 bosses, carried out by law firm Slater and Gordon, also revealed that one in four bosses has rejected or would reject a woman, simply because she was a single parent.

Property developer and investment company, Propiteer, have completed a multi-million pound development on their new asset, the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Exeter. Otter Garden Centres has added to existing green credentials with the installation of car charging points at the company’s Ottery St Mary, Plymouth, Wincanton and Lymington branches.

Customers who drive electric cars will now be able to use the EV (electric vehicle) charging stations free of charge while they shop. Each station is capable of charging two vehicles.

Co-Bikes expands with new stations rubberstamped

The expansion of the UK’s first on-street city electric bike hire scheme continues with new sites approved for Exeter and East Devon.

Devon County Council’s East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) have given approval for three new Co-Bike sites, which follows Exeter HATOC’s approval in May for ten new and three expanded sites.
