Sparx Learning , the Exeter-based education technology company, has announced that Sir Charlie Mayfield will become Chair in October 2025. He will succeed Simon Lebus CBE who is stepping down after six years of transformative leadership.

Since becoming Chair in 2019, Simon Lebus has overseen a period of remarkable growth and strategic progress at Sparx. At the start of his tenure, the company served just 14 schools in Devon. Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) has launched its Fibre Extension Programme which will provide more than 8,000 homes and businesses with fibre broadband connections direct to the premises by the end of 2021.

Wales & West Utilities brings mains gas to Exeter's new NHS Nightingale Hospital

Gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities has played a pivotal role in connecting the new Nightingale Hospital in Exeter to the local gas network.

An eight-strong team from the company spent two days connecting the new supply to a purpose-built kiosk, which has allowed the 116-bed NHS Nightingale hospital to benefit from mains gas.
