Exeter-based law firm achieves record breaking results

Porter Dodson, the South West-based UK Top 200 law firm, has announced a record-breaking year of growth and achievement, increasing revenue to £20.2m, while retaining the highly prestigious Gold Investors In People accreditation for the third successive time.

Across its Exeter, Sherborne, Poundbury, Bridport, Wellington, Taunton, and Yeovil offices, the firm has seen year-on-year growth of 15.5%, leading to a 25.4% leap in net profit.

A new campaign has been launched to encourage local people to support the South West’s leisure and tourism industry during the quieter autumn and winter months.

The accommodation and food service sector employs 271,000 people across the region, but many businesses have been hit hard by the devastating impact of lockdown, followed by the need to operate at reduced capacity and, more recently, limited opening hours.

A new precision farming solution for poultry farmers has been developed through a partnership between Cornwall-based agri-tech business Glas Data and poultry software specialist Eggbase.

The smart poultry sensors will allow egg producers, pullet rearers and broiler growers to monitor poultry housing conditions with greater accuracy. The sensors will gather key data about bird welfare and behaviour including temperature, humidity, sound and ammonia levels. Water, electricity and feed usage can also be monitored.

Exeter College’s new Construction Centre extension has welcomed its first cohort of Construction T Level students following a £1million transformation creating a bespoke learning area for the new qualification.
