Stoford is making progress on a new DHL parcel distribution service centre as part of the next phase of a job-creating logistics park in East Devon. Construction is underway on two new buildings that will deliver a combined 83,500 sq ft of industrial/logistics accommodation at Exeter Logistics Park, on the former Hayes Farm, Clyst Honiton. Local HGV training company wins contract to train 1,400 new drivers

Mainstream Training, based in Clyst St Mary, has won a multi-million pound Government contract to deliver free HGV driver training to those looking to become HGV lorry drivers.

The project starts immediately and is open to anyone, including those unemployed for fewer than 12 months, employees in different sectors looking for a career change and self-employed individuals looking to add a further income stream to their trade.

More than 30 jobs are set to be created in Exeter after a major UK builders merchant revealed that it will open a new branch next year.

Two Exeter graduates are on the road to becoming successful entrepreneurs after launching a ride-sharing app exclusively for students that gives them a cheaper – and greener – way of travelling home for Christmas.

Recent graduates James Campion and William Line launched STAXY this term and their free app has already amassed 3,000 student users at the University of Exeter.

The app allows student car owners to post the journeys they are making so students travelling to the same destination can join as a passenger and pay using Apple or Google Pay.

The first corporate esports festival for the whole of the South West is taking place in Exeter next year, organised by Tech South West in partnership with Exeter College.

Exeter student aims to combat world hunger with ‘nutritionally complete’ and sustainable food bar

An Economics student is juggling his studies with plans to tackle world hunger by developing a ‘nutritionally complete’ food bar, which has already proved a hit with Exeter’s homelessness charities.

James Frost, a third year student at the University of Exeter Business School, was inspired to create the Phoenix Bar after noticing on Facebook that a friend had pledged to eat the same food for a week as Syrian refugees arriving in the UK.
