A defunct bodyshop on the Finnimore Estate in Ottery St Mary has been transformed into state of the art offices after a major refurbishment programme.

Local entrepreneur Stuart Phillips and his team have given the old Alansway building a new lease of life, and it is now an impressive head office for four businesses; Coverstructures Commercial, RMC Build, Tickety-Boo Retail and Coverstructures Property.

A new £17m Government initiative tackling violence against women and girls will see Devon County Council receive £357,000.

The fund will go towards a project aimed at ensuring people in positions of care are helped to identify early signs of domestic violence and give them the knowledge of how to intervene.

As well as this, the project also aims to identify and work with perpetrators of domestic violence who may have difficulties with substance misuse and mental health.

Residents in Tiverton can find out more about the work which is due to start on the new Eastern Urban Extension junction at a special drop-in session next month.

Construction drawings and traffic management plans will be on display at the event at the Tiverton Hotel on Tuesday 5 September from 3pm to 7pm. There will also be the opportunity to meet some of the construction team and County Council officers to ask them about the works around the junction.

Tributes paid to motor retailer pioneer Geoff Snow

Tributes have been paid to Geoff Snow, the founder and non-executive director of family-run Snows Motor Group, one of the top 60 motor retailers in the UK.

Geoff, 85, died peacefully at hospital on August 23rd from dementia-related illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Joyce, son Stephen, who is group chairman, and daughters Jacquelyn and Jennifer, as well as nine grandchildren and a great grandson.

Recently, and poignantly, one of Geoff's nine grandchildren, Katie, who works in the business, gave birth to his first great grandchild, Oscar.

The auction of a signed Exeter Chiefs rugby union shirt has raised £215 to help disabled and terminally ill children in Devon.

The online auction was the idea of local parents Rachel and Ryan Berryman whose son Reed, aged three, underwent extensive brain surgery in 2015 and now demonstrates challenging behaviours and has a visual impairment. Students and staff at Exeter College have raised more than £21,000 for local charity Devon Air Ambulance Trust – the most ever raised for a college charity.
