A £1 million giant Ferris wheel dubbed the Devon Eye will be one of the stand-out attractions at this year’s Devon County Show at Westpoint, Exeter on May 19-21. Eight men were jailed on Wednesday 4 May for a total of 34 years for defrauding elderly people out of approximately £1 million.

The gang from London and the South East were convicted at the Old Bailey following a Met Police investigation into the ‘Bank of Terror’ conmen responsible from defrauding victims in Devon and Cornwall and across the country.

A number of the organised crime gang’s 140 victims were from Devon and Cornwall and were identified by Operation Fardel which has been investigating these offences for over 18 months.

Members of staff who have gone the extra mile for patients have received special recognition at the RD&E’s third annual Extraordinary People ‘Winner of Winners’ awards.

Pret A Manger’s first campus shop was officially opened this week by the company’s Chief Executive, Clive Schlee, and University of Exeter’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Steve Smith. The shop, located in The Forum, opened to customers on Friday 22nd April but held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday.
