New play park opens in Exmouth

Exmouth children are enjoying a brand new play park – which they helped to design - following a £70,000 investment in exciting new facilities at the Imperial Recreation Ground.

New equipment includes a wizzy 25-metre zip wire, an exhilarating hurricane swing, an interactive wooden boat and a bouncy trampoline.

East Devon District and Exmouth Town Councils used pupil power to help them spend money accumulated from recent town housing developments on play (Section 106 money).

Francis Clark announces merger

Francis Clark, the largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants in the South West, today announced a merger with Princecroft Willis, a leading Accountancy Practice in Dorset and Hampshire.

The merger will take place on 1 April 2016.

The newly merged firm will have a combined revenue of £38 million and a team of more than 580 people across nine offices, consolidating Francis Clark’s position as a leading accountancy and advisory firm in the South West.

Once completed, the merged firm will retain the name Francis Clark.

New emergency fund announced to help protect communities at risk of flooding

As the UK's weather continues to cause havoc in parts of the country with residents in affected communities dealing with the aftermath of heavy rainfall, Devon County Council has announced a new emergency fund to support communities at risk.

The Devon Emergency Community Flood Resilience Fund will make funds of up to an initial £2,000 available, via Town and Parish Councils or community groups, to Devon communities.

Grants will help communities buy flood resilience equipment such as sand bags, sand stores, tools, and personal protective equipment and emergency road signs...

The Exeter’s Becky Penrose is celebrating after winning an internal fundraising competition to raise money for the company’s Charity of the Year, Rainbow Living.

The Exeter, a local specialist provider of healthcare and protection insurance, invited their employees to undertake individual fundraising activities to be in with a chance of winning the ‘Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow’ competition, just one of many fundraising events staff took on for Rainbow Living during 2015.

FA Cup 4th Round: Exeter City or Liverpool drawn home to West Ham

Exeter City or Liverpool have been drawn at home against West Ham United in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The two sides will meet in an Anfield replay next week, with the winner going on to host the Hammers.

The Fourth Round proper will take place across the weekend of Friday 29 January to Monday 1 February 2016, with winning clubs receiving £90,000 from The FA’s prize fund.

Police are concerned for the welfare of 20-year-old Kaya Kelly, who is missing from the Haytor Unit, Torbay District Hospital, Torquay, Devon.

Kaya is described as slim with shoulder length dark brown which can be tied in a pony tail. Last seen wearing a white fluffy top with bits of red, black jeans, white pumps and carrying a handbag.

She went missing on the 7th January 2016 and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. She has links to Torbay, Newton Abbot, Exeter and Surrey.
