Secrets from Exeter’s hidden past will be uncovered in a major new archaeology project.
Lead by experts from the University of Exeter, the latest technology will be applied to RAMM’s collections to reveal where the city’s food and ceramics came from during 1st to the 16th centuries. The four-year study will show the extent of trading networks throughout the period and Exeter’s changing role within the region.
Project leader Professor Stephen Rippon, Professor of Landscape Archaeology at the University of Exeter, said: “There was a huge amount of excavation in Exeter in the...

The Council provides funding to childcare and early years education providers for families in receipt of certain benefits so they can have a free place.
The Council says that many parents are unaware of the funding, or of the benefits that child care can provide.
In an effort to make people more aware, the Council is writing to families who are eligible for the funding to offer them free childcare.

A bit like the Incredible Hulk, you wouldn’t like to see him angry.
However, as Rob Baxter emerged for his post-match press conference, Exeter’s commander in chief was still seething with rage at what he had just seen.
His anger - it has to be said - was somewhat two-fold. Firstly, at his own side’s first half display, one in which they didn’t really ever hit second gear and secondly, more importantly, the performance of referee Matt Carley and his fellow officials.
Left bemused by a clutch of decisions throughout the contest, which the Tigers eventually won 31-27,...
