Berry Recruitment has appointed award-winning Katy Thomas as its new regional manager across the south-west.

With seven years’ experience at the company Katy will oversee the Cornwall, Devon and South Wales’ operations.

She plans to grow the established branches in Truro, Exeter and Newport in terms of turnover and head-count.

The south-west area, which also includes Bristol, covers temporary and permanent employment in multiple sectors.

Regional jobs boost as Devon-based Supacat secures major MOD contract

Devon-based Supacat has today confirmed receipt from UK MOD of an order on behalf of the British Army for 70 High Mobility Transporters (HMT 400 series), to be manufactured in collaboration with major defence engineering contractor Babcock International Group plc through its facility in Devonport.

The contract award for an undisclosed sum could lead to as many as 240 of the light armoured vehicles, should operational requirements demand. The project is to be delivered between Supacat’s manufacturing facilities at Dunkeswell near Honiton and Babcock’s Devonport site in Plymouth...

Cases of norovirus are rising across the country and local people are urged to take steps to prevent the spread.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is urging the public to help stop the spread of norovirus by not visiting if they have symptoms of the virus and washing their hands regularly if visiting a healthcare setting.

McDonald's franchisee supports local Lions club

McDonald’s franchisee, David Shawyer, who runs and operates four restaurants in the Exeter and Exmouth area, has donated £600 worth of litter collection equipment to the Budleigh Salterton Lions.

The competition runs from January to June 2023, with the collective goal of travelling 384.4 million meters by the end of the mission. Figures just released show that the number of companies in Devon hit a record high during 2022 – making it one of the UK’s most successful counties.

The total number of registered companies in Devon rose to 61,854 over the last 12 months, showing an increase of 3.1% on 2021. During the year 6,814 new businesses were established.

The statistics are taken from the Inform Direct Review of Company Formations , using data from Companies House and the Office for National Statistics.
