Exe Estuary Trail section to be closed for repairs

A section of the Exe Estuary Trail near Lympstone will be closed for three months to undergo essential repairs.

The Courtlands Boardwalk, on the trail between Lympstone and Exmouth, needs to be replaced after a routine inspection of boardwalk found that timber elements of the structure are deteriorating.

All 74 wooden spans of the boardwalk need to be replaced and work is due to start on Monday 18 September.

It wasn’t only secondary school students across the county who received their GCSE results yesterday (Thursday 24 August) - Learn Devon's adult learners were also collecting theirs.

Across all four of Learn Devon's centres - Bideford, Exmouth, Newton Abbot and Tavistock - adult learners dropped in to pick up their results and celebrate their efforts with staff, tutors and their families.

A local housebuilder has launched a scheme to support community initiatives in Exeter.

Devon County Council has been named among the top ten local authorities for providing Bikeability cycle training for Year Six school pupils over the past year. New figures from the Bikeability Trust show that cycle training across the country is reaching more children than ever before, with almost 462,000 children receiving training between April 2022 and March 2023. Landowners and communities in Devon are being reminded they have just over five weeks left to apply for this year’s free tree scheme .
