Princesshay to host Easter Garden Party

Princesshay and Radio Exe invite shoppers and visitors to join them for a fun filled Easter inspired day out on Thursday 2nd April from 11am-2pm in Princesshay Square.

Families can take part in an egg and spoon race and try their hand at outdoor game favourites including giant jenga and noughts and crosses.

Visitors to Princesshay’s Easter garden will also have the chance to win chocolate Easter egg sandwiches from Hotel Chocolat in the egg and spoon race, a £50 gift card with Radio Exe and sample the delicious menu from wagamama.

Digital ignorance threat to SW businesses

Eighty per cent of businesses in the South West feel inspired to grow, and 87% feel capable of doing so. However, the government’s Do More Online campaign is highlighting the risk that small businesses will be hampered because they are not doing enough online and are missing out on opportunities to find more customers, be more efficient, and save money.

Jewellery taken in Sidmouth burglary

Police are appealing for information after items of jewellery of huge sentimental value were taken from a property near Sidmouth.

A double-stranded pearl necklace, silver rose quartz set of earrings, and a rose quartz pendant on a silver chain were taken during a burglary at a property in Glebelands, Newton Poppleford.

Detectives believe entry was gained through an insecure door, sometime between 10am and 10.45pm on Thursday 19 March.

Pupils get their own film premiere

Children from Princetown Primary School have enjoyed a unique opportunity to work with Dartmoor National Park and Animated Exeter to create a spooky animation based on one of Dartmoor’s legends.

Fourth mystery donation to Exeter’s Hopiscare shops

Hospiscare has received another mystery donation – this time £1,020 was left outside its flagship store in Exeter’s Fore Street.

The money was left in a large bag, containing a purple quilt, just by the front door a few minutes before staff arrived to open up in the morning.

Last Christmas Hospiscare, Exeter’s local end of life charity, celebrated receiving £3,450 after cash was left in two carrier bags outside its Cowick Street shop and just last month Hospiscare received another mystery donation of £140 in notes, this time through the post, to the same store.

Donation helps new guide dog owners get started

Guide Dogs has received £4,920 to fund starter kits for new guide dog owners across Devon.

The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

Guide Dogs exists to enhance the quality of life of people living with blindness or impaired vision. The grant will provide new guide dog owners with specialised products and aids based on their personal vision and mobility needs such as harnesses and hi-visibility vests, as well as other rehabilitation services....

Business park takes important step forward

Following approval by Devon’s cabinet to move forward with plans for the Okehampton East Business Park, the planning application has now also been approved by West Devon Borough Council.

The planning permission includes use for office, distribution and industrial use, road and site levels.

The next stage will be to attract businesses alongside a tender process for construction works.

The 20 acre park will be located to the east of the town and aims to create a range of commercial premises and the creation of around 400 jobs.
