Fun on the Water in Mid Devon

Families have the chance to try a range of water based activities at the Grand Western Canal Country Park’s ’Fun on the Water' day later this month.

Stand-up paddle boarding, rowing boat and Canadian Canoe hire sessions as well as model boating and pond dipping are on offer.

The event is being held at the Grand Western Canal Basin on Saturday 13 May 2017 between 11am and 3pm.

Professional stand-up paddleboarding instructor Rob McPaddling will hold a free taster session.

Over St George’s Day weekend, hundreds of flower enthusiasts visited Poltimore House just outside Exeter for the first ever Poltimore Flower Festival.

Katrina puts best foot forward at London Marathon

A trainee chartered accountant isn't resting on her Laurels after completing the London Marathon and raising over £3,000 for charity.

Katrina Cheung, who took part to raise funds for charity Mind, admits she now has the "running bug" and has already signed up to run in the 2018 event.

The 24-year-old joined Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants two and a half years ago after graduating from Exeter University, and raised part of the charity money by challenging her colleagues to guess how long it would take her to complete the gruelling 26-mile route through the capital....

A collaborative exhibition showcasing the art of hand embroidery, old and new. Degree students from The Royal School of Needlework have produced contemporary, hand-embroidered work inspired by treasured textiles from world renowned archives at Hampton Court Palace.

Charity to hold celebration of unique mill heritage

Devon Wildlife Trust is giving people to explore Exeter’s last working watermill at the charity’s annual National Mills Weekend family event.

On Sunday 14 May visitors will be given the opportunity to witness the historic mill in action, as volunteer millers start the water wheel turning and grind grain into flour. On Tuesday 2nd May Devonshire Freemasons' Provincial Grand Master the Rt. W. Bro Ian Kingsbury, accompanied by his wife Toni, visited the offices of Devon Air Ambulance in Exeter.

They can be seen here presenting Fundraising Manager Tracy Owen with a certificate representing the donation for £4,000 given by Devonshire Freemasons through the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

This makes a total of £51,000 presented by Devonshire Freemasons through the Freemasons Grand Charity since 2007 and over £110,000 when adding presentations made by individual lodges throughout Devonshire...

One of Devon’s leading law firms and winner of the UK Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards, has revealed its year end figures, showing strong growth in the sector.
