Conservationists have been awarded funding to develop plans to protect a rare species of bat in Devon. The funding secured by Devon Wildlife Trust from the Heritage Lottery Fund for will go towards a project protecting the Greater Horseshoe Bat. From Tuesday (1 April), Devon County Council will take over the enforcement of on-street parking from local District Councils.
This will create a single countywide service responsible for all on-street parking, with 45 Civil Parking Enforcement officers transferring to the County Council.

A successful fundraising auction by the Friends of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery has ensured that a portrait commemorating the friendship of two of Devon’s most famous artists has been saved for Devon.
With over £12,000 raised at the art auction last Wednesday and assistance from the V&A Purchase Grant Fund, the Portrait of the artist Francis Hayman (1708-1776) by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) can be added to Exeter’s art collection.
