Exeter Chamber hosts Ben Bradshaw MP

Over 90 business leaders from across the city attended the July Chamber lunch with guest speaker, Ben Bradshaw.

The event that was held at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum saw Ben give delegates an update on his Deputy Leader campaign as well as covering topical subjects such as better broadband for Exeter, city wide congestion and renewable energy.

Fans across the world have just 50 days to go until the start of Rugby World Cup 2015, hosted in England and in Cardiff between September 18 and October 31, 2015.

As the countdown continues, to what is predicted to be the biggest Rugby World Cup to date, fans will today have further opportunities to be part of Rugby World Cup 2015 as an additional 30,000 tickets go on general sale from 1200 (BST) for matches in Pools A and B via tickets.rugbyworldcup.com

Exeter’s community radio station, Phonic FM, has commissioned a group of artists to produce four ‘radio portraits’.

These will be creative radio programmes, exploring the city and its communities as Rugby World Cup 2015 arrives in town this autumn.

The artists producing these radio portraits would love to hear from the people of Exeter, to weave their stories into these special radio programmes.

Improved recycling service for Teignbridge

Information about Teignbridge’s improved waste and recycling service will be dropping through the letterboxes of the district’s homes over the coming months.

Teignbridge is changing its waste and recycling service to make it easier for people to recycle more. The scheme is being rolled out across the district in three phases and will start in September and end in November.

For the Okehampton & District Agricultural Association work is well underway and plans are in place for the 108th Okehampton Show on Thursday 13th August at Stoney Park Showground, just outside Okehampton.

This traditional countryside event, where animals take pride of place, is a very popular day out in a beautiful setting on the northern edge of the Dartmoor National Park and is a great opportunity to meet with friends from far and wide. Fire crews tackle shed blaze in Exeter

Fire crews were called to a shed fire in Burnthouse Lane, Exeter this afternoon (Wednesday 29 July).

An appliance from Danes Castle and one from Middlemoor along with the rapid intervention unit attended a fire within an outdoor storage shed attached to a property just before 3.30pm.

Crews arrived and got to work with breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put the fire out.

The cause of the fire was deemed accidental, and the storage shed was moderately damaged by the fire.
