Businesses urged to sign up to Buy With Confidence scheme

Devon and Somerset Trading Standards will be holding an event on Tuesday 11 November between 6.30pm and 8.30pm to coincide with the launch of their new branding and website for their Buy With Confidence Approved Business Scheme.

The event which will be held at Grange Jaguar and Aston Martin dealership in Marsh Barton, Exeter, is free to attend, and will allow local businesses to learn more about the scheme and its benefits.

South West growth slowest in a year-and-a-half in October

The private sector economy of the South West registered ongoing growth of output, new business and employment in October.

That said, the pace of expansion in total business activity moderated to the weakest since April 2013, and was the slowest among 12 UK regions monitored. 80,000 South West employers benefit from Employment Allowance

New data released today reveals how over 850,000 UK employers are benefitting from the Employment Allowance, with 80,000 businesses benefitting in the South West.

The Employment Allowance is a reduction in National Insurance Contributions (NICs) that an employer pays on their employees, and is worth up to £2,000 for eligible businesses and charities.

Within the first six months of its launch 80,000 employers across the region had benefitted from the Employment Allowance. This number is expected to increase throughout the remainder of the tax year.
