Will Chudley says he and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates are relishing this weekend's crunch Big Game 6 encounter with Harlequins at a packed Twickenham Stadium.

With just a point and a place separating Harlequins in fourth and the fifth-placed Chiefs in the current Aviva Premiership standings, the talented scrum-half knows the importance of a big display at English Rugby HQ this weekend.

"It should be a fantastic occasion," said Chudley, who was part of the Exeter side that returned to winning ways last weekend with a 16-3 win over former club Newcastle Falcons. "For a lot of...

City bar welcomes Exeter Chiefs supporters for crunch game

If you haven't got a ticket for today's crunch tie between the Exeter Chiefs and Toulon at Sandy Park, city bar The Hole In The Wall is the place to be.

Earlier this week, supporters kept alive the spirit of the Entente Cordiale by inviting their rivals from across the Channel to join them for a drink.

The two teams meet at Sandy Park this Saturday in the long-anticipated Heineken Cup group game.

As last season’s winners Toulon – who boast among their squad England legend Johnny Wilkinson – will be formidable opposition for the Chiefs.

Exeter Chiefs fail to beat Bath again

Bath 21 Exeter Chiefs 16

The long wait for Exeter Chiefs to record a top flight win over Bath will continue into the New Year at least after a kicking masterclass from fly-half George Ford settled a pulsating Westcountry derby at a packed Recreation Ground.

Bath’s young playmaker produced a faultless display of goalkicking as he not only landed six penalties, but also delivered a sumptuous second half drop-goal to ultimately sink the brave resistance of Rob Baxter’s visitors.

In a nip-and-tuck contest which saw the lead change countless times, the Chiefs – who...

Today's Chiefs side to face Bath

Whilst there are some who believe Bath's 'Indian Sign' over the Exeter Chiefs is now becoming entrenched in the minds of those at the Devon club, head coach Rob Baxter is quick to refute such a claim ahead of their latest meeting.

Today the Westcountry rivals square up for their Aviva Premiership encounter at the Recreation Ground (3.15pm) knowing it's not only local bragging rights at stake but, more importantly, vital top flight points on offer.

With five previous Premiership wins - and a 12-all draw - already accrued against the Chiefs in the last three seasons, Bath not...

Ali Hepher knows his side are not a “million miles” away from challenging for top honours in this season’s Aviva Premiership, but he was left frustrated after Exeter Chiefs slipped to their second home defeat of the season against leaders Saracens.

With just minutes remaining at a packed Sandy Park, the Chiefs were denied for a second time in the contest by TV match official David Sainsbury, who claimed there was “inconclusive evidence” to award a late try for Exeter’s England international Tom Johnson.

Although watching countless replays of the flanker hurtling towards the...

Ricky Pellow says Exeter Chiefs will look to attack from the outset when they face rivals Bath in Sunday's LV= Cup battle at the Recreation Ground (1pm).

A 19-5 win over holders Harlequins - courtesy of a Sireli Naqelevuki try and 14 points from the boot of Ceri Sweeney - gave the Chiefs the ideal start to their domestic cup campaign at Sandy Park a week ago.

Now, though, the Devon club will make the short trek up the M5 this weekend not only looking to maintain their winning formula, but at the same time record a first win over their hosts since 1978.

It's a grim...

Praise from across The Pond for the Exeter Chiefs

The New York Times have praised the Exeter Chiefs in a glowing article crediting the Heineken Cup side as 'the first outsider in a generation to truly crack the closed circle at the top of the English game".

Following the Chiefs' clinical performance against Cardiff last weekend and today's narrow defeat to Glasgow, they currently sit at the top of Pool 2 and are poised to capitalise on their second shot at success in Europe. The New York Times described Exeter's performance against their Welsh opponents last Sunday as the "result of the round".

Head coach Rob Baxter has delivered a glowing tribute to younger brother Richard, just days before he pulls on an Exeter Chiefs jersey for the final time. Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash at home to Gloucester will see the 34-year-old notch up his 431st and last appearance for the Devon club, some 16 years after he made his first team debut in an away fixture at Fylde. It is, according to the Chiefs boss, an “incredible story” and one which underlines the impact the talented back-row forward has had on his hometown club. This weekend, though, the curtain comes down on a glittering career...

Chiefs to honour Margaret Thatcher with minute's silence

Exeter Rugby Club chairman and chief executive Tony Rowe OBE has today confirmed the club will be paying its respect to the memory of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister, ahead of this weekend’s home encounter with London Irish.

A minute of silence will be observed before the Aviva Premiership match between the Chiefs and Irish on Saturday, April 13 (3pm).

Meanwhile Foreign Secretary William Hague has defended the decision to recall parliament from its Easter recess and said it was right for the state to fund most of the costs of Thatcher's funeral. The...
