A Victorian croquet pavilion that has stood for over 120 years could be demolished in less than a fortnight unless the owners are persuaded to think again.
The Croquet Club at Budleigh Salterton has informed the council of their intention to demolish the timber-framed building as a recent surveyor’s report found it to be structurally unsound. The group celebrated this milestone with a birthday cake and a joyful rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ led by singing leader Jacky Forbes.
The group, for people with dementia and carers, meets regularly on the first and third Thursday afternoon of every month at St James’ Church Hall in Exeter.
Singing is not only an enjoyable activity, it can also provide a way for people with dementia, along with their carers, to express themselves and socialise with others.
