The Big Fix goes nationwide!

UK residents can find inspiration on how to breathe new life into their broken possessions at what promises to be the largest repair event of its kind ever held.

The Big Fix 2020 will see 75 repair cafes from around the UK join forces and run simultaneous events on Saturday February 15.

In an event being co-ordinated by Devon County Council, hundreds of volunteer fixers will donate their Saturday fixing anything and everything from clothes, electrical items and furniture to toys, mechanical items and leather goods, all for just a small donation.

Nappuccino in Exeter has been named one of the most breastfeeding-supportive places in the UK. The regular event, held at The Baby Room at Ladysmith Infant School, offers breastfeeding support, advice and encouragement to mums who meet there on a twice-weekly basis. It has now been nationally recognised for its services to breastfeeding mums in global brand Lansinoh’s Feed With Confidence Awards 2019, after being universally nominated for being so active in their support of new mums. Comedian Matt Forde brings Brexit, Pursued By A Bear to Exeter

Comedian Matt Forde’s show Brexit, Pursued By A Bear is heading on a national tour, visiting the Exeter Phoenix in April.

Following a completely sold-out and critically-acclaimed month long run including extra shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Matt Forde has added a run at the Soho Theatre from 20-25th January to his biggest nationwide tour to date with new stand-up show, Brexit, Pursued By A Bear. Matt will now play 39-dates nationwide, including 10 London shows at the Southbank Centre, Bloomsbury Theatre and Soho Theatre.

Exeter Cavern will play host to the first PetRocks! fundraiser gig to help people in the city who are homeless.

Organised by local businessman and guitarist Dan Pritchard, of Susannah and the Noise, the gig on Thursday February 20 at the Gandy Street venue will see proceeds go to local charity St Petrock’s, which is working to address the problems caused by homelessness in and around Exeter.

Susannah and the Noise will be joined by Lottie, Ghost Hands and Charlotte AP for the gig.

Last year, between 45 and 95 people were accessing the charity’s drop-in homelessness...

2020 Beijing Fellowship for one lucky Exeter School pupil

Exeter School welcomed alumnus Julian Fisher (1993 - 2000) back to school to launch the 2020 Beijing Fellowship for Lower Sixth pupils. Leading educational consultant Julian first offered the all-inclusive work experience placement to Exeter School pupils last year. Resurfacing work on the Exe Estuary Trail

Resurfacing will be carried out on a section of the Exe Estuary Trail near Bridge Road next week (Monday 10 February).

The stretch of the shared-use trail between Bridge Road and Station Road car park, near the Turf Hotel, will be closed for approximately five days from Monday 10 February while the repair scheme is carried out.

Part of the towpath public right of way, which leads on and off the trail between Bridge Road and the Station Road car park, will also be closed to the general public for the duration of the work, which is expected to be completed by the weekend of...
