Woman freed from her overturned car on B3179

Two fire appliances from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were despatched to reports of an road collision on the B3179 between Clyst St George and Woodbury with persons reported trapped yesterday afternoon.

Crews confirmed on arrival one vehicle to be overturned on the highway with one female occupant trapped.

Crews were able to stabilise the car and used hydraulic rescue equipment to rescue the casualty and hand duty of care to the ambulance service.

Three Christmas performances... one frantic mum

Last Wednesday I had the pleasure (and I do mean pleasure) of not one, not two, but three Christmas performances to watch in one day. Carry on christmas crackers not permitted

Exeter International Airport has reminded passengers travelling to friends and relatives for the festive period that Christmas crackers are not permitted in hand/cabin baggage.

If the crackers are in a sealed box (original packaging, cellophane not broken) they may travel in hold (checked-in) baggage. However, party poppers are not permitted in hand or hold baggage.

There are no hand (cabin) baggage restrictions on Christmas cakes but passengers should be aware of the DfT 'Liquids' regulations and airline hand (cabin) baggage limits.

Look who’s got a seasonal driving job with Stagecoach!

Customers waiting for the 57 service at Exeter Bus station were delighted to see they had a very special seasonal bus driver – Santa Claus!

Between now and Christmas, Santa (also known as Clint Woodman from Stagecoach South West's Exmouth depot) is busy raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and certainly put a smile on everyone’s faces.

Christmas tree to light up outdoor education centre

Devon County Council leader John Hart will switch on the lights on a special Christmas tree to mark the topping out of a world class outdoor education and training centre in Exeter.

The £5.6 million centre on Haven Banks has now reached its highest point with the completion of the 25-metre climbing tower.

The centre itself will be completed in June. It will replace the existing, outdated activity centre on the canal basin.

The switch on of the Christmas tree – on top of the climbing tower – will be at 12 noon on Monday, 17th December.

Hanks and White commit to future at the Chiefs

Head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after another two of his current Exeter Chiefs squad this week committed their futures to the Devon club.

James Hanks and Ben White have followed the earlier lead of club-mates Chris Whitehead, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Will Chudley, Phil Dollman and Carl Rimmer in agreeing new deals that will keep them at Sandy Park for a further two years.

Hanks, who has to date made 176 appearances for the club, is one of the club’s longest-serving players having first made his debut for the Chiefs back in 2005 against the Cornish Pirates....
