Thousands flock to Day One of the Devon County Show

Despite fears of a wet and squelchy Devon County Show, considering the recent deluge of rain that Exeter has been experiencing in the last couple of days, so far the sun has shone and visitors attending the Show have been enjoying blue skies and a wealth of entertainment.

Surf Action Empowerment help out at Wembury Point

This week the Surf Action Empowerment Project joined National Trust Ranger Lorna Sherriff and National Trust Volunteering and Community Involvement Consultant Heather Worth for a morning of volunteering at Wembury Point. Flybe announce price lock-down scheme

Exeter-based Flybe has announced a new scheme which allows customers to book flights and to hold a "Price Lock-Down" fare for 24 hours before confirming and paying for their Flybe flight.

Travel planners will now have the benefit of being able to check and finalise all their travel details knowing that the price of a flight will held with the "Price Lock-Down". Customers may then confirm their held Fare within 24 hours by retrieving their Price Lock-Down booking on Flybe.com.

One year after being airlifted from a major crash, Matthew Tooke cycles the Devon borders for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

Over five days, 25-29 May 2013, Matthew Tooke will be cycling the entire borders of Devon for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT). This comes literally one year after he was airlifted from a terrifying road traffic accident.

Bicton College has had more reason to celebrate after achieving a ‘good’ grade in a recent Ofsted Care Standards inspection. This happens every four years and looks at the residential provision offered to students; aspects include the quality of service, outcomes for young people, the management system, and safeguarding measures.

Bus services to the new community of Cranbrook will be introduced by Devon County Council from Tuesday 28 May.

The Services 4, 4A and 4B, funded by developer contributions, will replace services 60, 60A, 60B, X60 and 380 on the route between Exeter, Clyst Honiton, Cranbrook, Ottery St. Mary, Honiton and Axminster.

Devon County Council’s existing funding for Service 380 along this route will also continue towards the additional services.

Bishops view Turin Shroud replica

Bishop Michael and Bishop Nick visited the Turin Shroud replica exhibition which was held at St Andrew's Church, Tiverton.

There were also paintings by Rosa Tuffneyon display.

The Shroud was loaned from Pam Moon, whose sister and brother-in-law, a local vicar, worshipped at St Andrew's before moving to North Devon.

There are just 10 replicas of the Turin Shroud but this is the only one in the UK that is touring round to various cathedrals and churches.
