Married emergency medicine doctors finish first out of mixed pairs in Atlantic rowing challenge

A husband-and wife emergency medicine doctor team have landed in the Carribean after rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic as the first ever married couple to participate in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (TWAC). Following more than seven weeks of rowing, they finished 1st in the mixed pairs ranking and have, so far, raised more than £20,000 for frontline medical charities.

Vranch House is a pioneering special school and therapy centre for Devon children. Vranch House was set up by Charles Vranch as a charity in 1969 and the school opened its doors to pupils for the first time in May 1971.

New teams wanted in Exeter for Tuesday evening Community 6-a-Side League

The league operates on Tuesday evenings @ ISCA ACADEMY astro pitch and is affiliated to the FA.

Qualified referees are used to officiate games and all games are 40 minutes slots. The weekly fee to play is from £4 per player and each team play 1 game per week. Fixtures and league tables are on the league website and updated on a weekly basis.

Over 100 players weekly take part in the league and any standard of player or team are welcome to join. You can sign up as team or as an individual player and individual players will be entered into a team.

McDonald’s Marsh Barton Restaurant set to reopen

Following significant investment from local franchisee, David Shawyer, McDonald’s in Stone Lane Retail Park on Marsh Barton Road is set to reopen on 3rd February 2022 after a major refurbishment, which has brought exciting new features to the restaurant. Finishing touches at St Sidwell’s Point ahead of long-awaited opening

New images reveal Exeter’s iconic new leisure centre St Sidwell’s Point as the finishing touches are put in place ahead of opening in the spring.

St Sidwell’s Point is the UK’s first leisure centre built to the super energy efficient Passivhaus standard.

The unique facility in the heart of the city centre has been funded by the City Council and constructed by Kier.

Exeter Recycling Scheme wins National Award

Exeter City Council and Exeter City Football Club (ECFC) have won a national recycling award for their innovative scheme, Cans 4 City, which encourages Exeter football fans to recycle used drink cans while also raising money for charity.

The team behind Cans 4 City were presented with a Green Can Award by not-for-profit Every Can Counts in recognition of their outstanding recycling efforts.
