Arctic 30 return from Russia

Five British members of the Arctic 30 are to return from Russia today after three months of imprisonment.

Three of those returning- Kieron Bryan, Iain Rogers and Alex Harris- are originally from Devon and were granted amnesty alongside several prominent political prisoners including members of the band Pussy Riot. Kitchen fire on Powlesland road

The Fire Service received a call reporting an oven fire at the Powlesland Road, Alphington, Exeter

One fire appliance from Danes Castle Exeter and one fire appliance from Middlemoor Exeter attended.

A man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of the fire which was started from the grill pan of an electric oven.

The fire was out on the arrival of fire crews who inspected the premises to ensure it was safe.

Ambulance crews checked over the casualty on scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Missing girl found safe and well

Bethany has been found safe and well in Plymouth

Police have said they are “growing increasingly concerned” for a 13-year-old girl who has been missing since yesterday morning.

Bethany Gordon, 13, was last seen yesterday morning at Barnstaple Retail Park wearing a green three quarter length coat, grey leggings and black and white shoes.

Police believe she may have made her way to the Plymouth area where she has friends.

Exeter College BTEC Level 2 Performing Arts students were introduced to a variety of plays, practitioners and theatrical styles from different periods in history.

Students have taken part in session’s exploring the works of Pinter, Ionesco, Shakespeare and Godber as well as Naturalism, Greek Theatre and Commedia Dell’arte.

After being placed into small performance groups the students have developed an interpretation of a short section of text for assessment purposes.

This showcase event is a taste of just some of the excellent work this course has created together...

Annabelle Chvostek

2013 Juno nominee Annabelle Chvostek is a versatile singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Toronto. In 2004, she was selected to replace Cara Luft in the Juno-winning Wailin’ Jennys, a gig that took her from obscurity to international acclaim.

In 2007, she left the Jennys and reprised her solo career, releasing Resilience, in 2008. Resilience was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Album of the Year and became the second most-played Canadian album at US folk radio at the start of 2009.
