Residents of Feniton have flocked to the Flybe training academy for the first day of a planning ‘super inquiry’ which could see the village almost double in size.

The Feniton ‘super inquiry’ was called as three developers are simultaneously appealing their previously rejected planning applications.

The Planning Inspectorate made the decision to combine the hearings due to similarities of the appeals.

Police have charged a Glasgow man William McGeough, 41 with attempted murder in the suspected stabbing on Newport road on Monday night (6 January).

McGeough and a second man, aged 45, were arrested after a member of the public reported seeing a man with blood on his face.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a man in his thirties with what are thought to be knife wounds.

The man remains in a serious but stable condition in RD&E hospital.

McGeough will appear in Exeter magistrates’ court later today to begin legal proceedings.

The funding of major national policing projects will be shared by police forces across the UK and that means a further budget cut of £2.5m for Devon and Cornwall Police.
