Solicitors support sizzling fundraiser for local cancer charity

On Thursday 3 April, Devon-based law firm Gilbert Stephens LLP will once again play host to the Great Devon Breakfast in aid of local cancer charity, FORCE.

The Great Devon Breakfast last year raised £10,000 across 17 different venues and the event, supported by Gilbert Stephens LLP, will be held at St Olaves Hotel located on Mary Arches Street, Exeter, at 8am. Breakfast costs just £8 and includes a full English with tea or coffee and organisers hope it will help raise around £500 for the local charity.

'Suspicious' Fire at West Exe College

A Secondary school in Exeter was evacuated this morning after a ‘suspicious’ building fire was discovered. Staff and Students were evacuated from West Exe Technology College in St. Thomas after a fire was discovered in the school’s toilets at around 11am this morning. Fire crews from Middle moor and Danes Castle were dispatched to the school following several calls from the public. On arrival, crews confirmed a small fire in the ground floor toilet block. Exeter Chiefs skipper Dean Mumm believes he and his team-mates should use Sunday’s LV= Cup triumph as the springboard for future success at the Devon club.

New Daily Coach Links to Exeter Airport

Catching a flight to and from the South West could be about to get easier as the Stagecoach group announce a new daily transport link to Exeter Airport.

The new link, from Stagecoach’s megabusplus services, will see all four of its routes to and from the Honiton rail hub stop at Exeter Airport from this week.

The group say that the new service will provide a ‘seamless link’ between London and the West Country by using a combination of their megabus.com buses as well as the rail links at Honiton.

South West Water bills could fall by 13% by 2020

South West Water has today announced plans which could see household bills fall by 13% in real terms by 2020. South West Water has already confirmed a price freeze on its standard tariff and standing charges to April 2015 and previously proposed to keep average bill rises below inflation to 2020. In addition, bills already include a £50 annual reduction from Government to 2020. The FB Pocket Orchestra takes its listeners back to the hot jazz, blues, ragtime and popular dances of the 1920/30s & earlier.

The Orchestra features a unique line-up of strings, brass, reeds, guitar, percussion and vocals drawing repertoire from blues, jazz, ragtime and dance music from the early 1900s.
