A limited edition set of official Rugby World Cup 2015 Exeter Host City Rugby balls have today gone on sale.

The Heart of Devon Tourism Partnership is making 250 Rugby balls available, with a set of 12 being donated to local charities, and the rest being sold to raise funds to help promote Exeter to encourage tourism in the build up to next year’s Tournament.

Once the balls, priced at £25 each, are sold, no more will be available to buy.

Part night street lighting roll-out continues in Exeter

Around 650 streetlights in residential streets in Duryard and Pennsylvania will be converted to part-night lighting from Wednesday (19 November).

Streetlights previously on all-night will be switched off from about 12:30am to 5:30am, before coming on again until dawn. The change is part of Devon County Council’s on-going programme to reduce costs and carbon emissions across the county.

Teignbridge residents are being encouraged to offer their views on a draft document which maps out housing and health needs in the district over the next five years.

People can influence and contribute to Teignbridge’s emerging Housing and Health Strategy 2015-2020 by giving comments and feedback as part of a consultation period which runs from now until 5 January 2015.

East Devon District Council is once again supporting local shops over Christmas with a range of special car park deals for motorists, including a chance to win a ‘Golden Ticket’ offering three months’ free parking for up to 24 lucky motorists.

This year’s main concession will again offer a special price of all-day parking for £2 (after 10am) in all East Devon’s car parks during December. The offer includes all inland car parks and those in resorts on the Jurassic Coast.

Lexicon Healthcare launched its flagship care home in Exeter on 13 November with a very special VIP in attendance, Angela Rippon OBE.

Devon's Crime Commissioner takes national lead to reduce alcohol misuse

Devon and Cornwall’s Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg is taking a national lead in the battle to cut alcohol related crime and harm, which is estimated to cost the country £11 billion annually. Mr Hogg will chair a national PCC group which has a clear vision to reduce alcohol misuse and the associated huge cost for policing and health. It will focus on changing attitudes, deterring offenders and tackling irresponsible supply. Eight other Commissioners have so far joined Mr Hogg in the cross party group, which has four main aims:

Devon clears up after more heavy rain

Devon County Council is mopping up today after heavy downpours caused more problems on the county’s road network over the weekend.

Parts of East Devon took the brunt of the storms, with Sidmouth, Exmouth, Newton Poppleford, Tipton St John, Metcombe, and Woodbury worst affected.

The A376 at Exmouth currently remains closed after the road surface at Courtlands Cross started to lift on Saturday evening. A gas leak was found which has been repaired. Work is ongoing to restore the road surface, and it is hoped it will re-open under two way temporary traffic lights by 4pm today....

A Devon holiday park with its own private beach has won a top tourism award for providing the best family experience and customer service.

Sites across Somerset, Dorset and Devon were shortlisted for the regional 2014 Hoseasons ‘Family Fun’ Diamond Award.

Event promotes safer working culture

Construction workers across the South West have been brushing up on their health and safety knowledge at the first ever CFSW Health and Safety Expo.
