Wardour Garrison is making a return visit to Poltimore House so that you can expreience what it was like to live in a Civil War garrison, including living history experience, combat demonstrations, authentic sites and sounds of the battlefield.

Hooley 'a great fit' says Baxter

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes new signing Will Hooley is a “great fit” for his side after he today sealed a move from Aviva Premiership counterparts Northampton Saints.

Government set to ban legal highs

Five “legal highs” are set to be banned by the Government.

The drugs will be made illegal from tomorrow (10 April) for up to 12 months while the independent Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) decides whether they should be permanently controlled.

The government accepted the ACMD’s advice to make a Temporary Class Drug Order (TCDO) on five compounds related to methylphenidate, a Class B drug, due to concerns about their misuse as new psychoactive substances (NPS).

Highway maintenance budgets approved

The funding shortfall for Devon’s road network will be raised with the next Government, Devon County Council has announced.

In setting out its programmes for its capital and revenue budgets for highway maintenance, the County Council’s Cabinet yesterday (Wednesday 8 April) gave a commitment to make further representations to the incoming government.

The Council is receiving £42.3 million from the Department for Transport for its capital budget 2015/16 to deal with planned structural maintenance on Devon’s 8,000 miles of roads, which is the biggest highway network of any...

Open air cinema comes to Powderham Castle

The Luna Cinema is coming to Devon this summer, turning the grounds of Powderham Castle into an outdoor cinema.

From May to October, the two screens will tour across England to the Isle of Wight, and to Scotland and Wales, showing films in some of the UK’s most iconic venues.

Powderham Castle will play host to three screenings from 28-30 August, offering an audience of up to 1,500 the chance to watch Dirty Dancing (1987), Mamma Mia! (2008), or Top Gun (1986) under the stars.

Businesses from Exeter are exhibiting and sending delegates to the Business Showcase South West 2015.

The event, which organisers hope will attract 3,000 delegates, is held at Colston Hall in Bristol on May 14 and 15.

Business Showcase South West 2015 is the biggest event of its kind in the region, and celebrates the best in innovation, creativity and enterprise. Last year’s event proved to be one of the biggest business events of the year, with 1,719 tickets ordered and a sell-out exhibition.
