Police warning after increase in dog attacks

Police in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset have been contacting local schools at the start of the new term, highlighting the need for dog safety.

Forcewide the number of people injured by dogs has risen sharply. In August 2014 there were 6 cases of a person being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury. In July 2015 that figure had risen to 63.

As a result of this police, in partnership withthe RSPCA and the Dogs Trust, are contacting primary schools and offering safety advice.

Exeter racing driver newcomer Richard Mitchell returns triumphant from iconic Brands Hatch Circuit last weekend crowned HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 Champion 2015.

Remarkably in his first season of racing Richard has won one of the most competitive Championships in Historic Racing.

Driving Speedsport's blue Merlyn Mk20, Richard claimed the Championship with two thrilling and superbly controlled drives at Brands Hatch.

Over 200 members of the public had the chance to learn more about the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and have their say on its services when the hospital opened its doors for its annual Members’ Say event on 25th September. The RD&E currently has over 11,000 public Members. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the hospital and how it is run. Stagecoach wins top industry award

Transport operator Stagecoach has been named the best large bus operator in Britain.

The company’s operation in the south-west of England was named Large Bus Operator of the Year at the 2015 Route One Operator Excellence Awards in Birmingham.

It is the second consecutive year that a Stagecoach company has been awarded the Large Operator of the Year title after Stagecoach Midlands won the same accolade last year.

Appeal to trace relatives of Bradford man

The Bradford Coroner is appealing for information to trace Devon relatives of Edward Ireland, 69, who died in Bradford on 28 September.

Mr Ireland died of natural causes at his home in Farside Green with no suspicious circumstances. It is thought that he has relatives living in the Devon and Bath areas.
