Icescape Westpoint all set to return this winter

AFTER a successful first year at Westpoint Arena, the sizable real ice rink returns to the venue this winter.

The main Westpoint Arena building will once again host the festive attraction from Thursday 11th December 2025 to Sunday 4th January 2026.

There’s space for up to 400 skaters in each 45-minute skate session on the ice, with various session types throughout the day. There’s lots of different skate sessions available for all to enjoy this Christmas. Kinder Exeter festival to get underway with message to ‘wake up to kindness, compassion and play’

Look out for ‘kindness ninjas’ roaming the streets of Exeter next week as part of a new festival that aims to create cities of compassion and playfulness.

The Kinder Exeter festival is a week-long event from 14 June that aims to give local residents a playful experience to reimagine what a city of kindness, compassion and wellbeing could be like, and a glimpse into how things could be different for everyone – especially those who are most often excluded.

NHS Doctors get on their bikes for home visits thanks to Co Bikes

During June, NHS doctors from Pinhoe and Broadclyst Medical Practice have opted to leave their cars at home in favour of using Co Bike e-bikes for home visits and travel between practices.

Dr Emily Hay, GP registrar and Dr Harry Edwards, GP, together with eight other doctors from the surgery, are keen to look at alternative, carbon neutral ways to travel. With home visits on the rise and journeys often short, the practical and sustainable solution is to travel by bike.

New figures suggest that there are now more than 130,000 people in Devon who are carers, the figure having risen by half again because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of meal boxes have again been delivered to families with young children this half term holiday week, in an initiative to help those who are struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.
