All aboard - a new initiative to support Devon’s Young Carers

Devon Young Carers at Westbank has launched a new initiative to support young people who care for family members. Called the Young Carers Movement Group, it gives young carers a platform to share their views on the support service provided by Westbank Community Health and Care, as well as suggest improvements, and highlight additional support young carers would like to see in the future. The new group also provides a safe space to talk openly about the challenges and experiences of growing up as a young carer.

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines MBE is backing a campaign by Visit Devon and the NHS encouraging people working in the hospitality industry to have the Covid-19 vaccination.

Michael Caines is one of the UK’s most acclaimed chefs and has two Devon hospitality businesses; Lympstone Manor contemporary country house hotel overlooking the Exe Estuary, and Mickey’s Beach Bar and Restaurant in Exmouth. Travel advice ahead of Devon County Show 

Drivers planning to use the M5 near Exeter are advised to plan their journeys ahead of this weekend’s three-day Devon County Show at the Westpoint Showground.

The show, to be held on 2/3/4 July, is expected to attract up to 80,000 people over the three days at the Clyst St Mary venue near Exeter, with increased traffic anticipated on the M5 north and south of junctions 29 and 30, the A30 east and west of Exeter and the A38 south of Exeter.

British Transport Police (BTP) and Network Rail have issued a stark warning after several recent incidents of trespass on the railway line in Dawlish, Devon.

While Network Rail completes work on the new sea wall which runs alongside the railway, the footpath has been closed and a safe, temporary route has been put in place between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren station.

Since the footpath has been temporarily closed several incidents of people climbing on the wall and walking alongside the railway, where trains on the line can travel up to 75mph, have been reported....
