Leading South West building services engineering company EX2 Group has welcomed three new apprentices this week, as they begin their professional training in Electrical Installation with Exeter College.

Christian, Alfie, and Harvey were welcomed to the Exeter offices by James Rayner (right), Project Manager. Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter, was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween afternoon party got in to full swing.

Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by enjoying some music from local performers ‘Sounds Easy’ and enjoyed a delicious buffet.

General Manager, Haley Reeve-Larson said: “Our staff and residents love any excuse for a party! The home looks fantastic with all the decorations and our head chef did us proud with lots of spooky treats – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

Devon parents can download a free locally developed app to check symptoms and get advice

Levels of the common childhood illness respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which causes coughs and colds, peaked over the summer and are once again rising in the under 5’s .

Parents in Devon are being urged to look out for the possible signs of severe infection in vulnerable children and to download the free, locally developed HANDiApp ; which they can use to check symptoms and get advice on when to seek medical help.

Over 350 animal lovers and their dogs came together at Escot House in Exeter last weekend (30 October) to take part in Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge.

Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge is one of the UK’s biggest obstacle courses members of the public can take part in with their dog. An Exeter skittles team has claimed the first big win of the season in the Serious About Events winter skittles series.

The Saints team who play out of St Thomas Social Club, had the shortest journey to the tournament held in Torquay. Thirty two teams converged on the Derwent Hotel, having travelled from as far away as Wales, London, Cambridgeshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire for the first competition since Covid put a stop to skittles for 18 months.

DCE partners are leading the charge

A digital map displaying the 403 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging bays currently being delivered by Devon’s councils has been added to the Devon Climate Emergency (DCE) website.

All the bays will be delivered by December 2022. They will be for public use and spread over 168 locations throughout the county.

The delivery of a network of EV chargers is a key part of the Carbon Plan being drawn up by the DCE, a partnership of councils, public bodies, voluntary and business groups.
