Father Christmas comes to Princesshay

Father Christmas is coming to Princesshay in his own Christmas lodge for the first three weekends in December, raising money for Princesshay’s Charity of the Year, Families for Children.

Making himself at home in a sparkling Christmas lodge on Bedford Street, Father Christmas will be meeting families and talking to children about his preparations for the big day. Inside the lodge, children can write and post a Christmas wish list letter to the North Pole free of charge.  For an extra special experience, families can pay £8 per child to meet Father Christmas and receive a beautiful gift box including a certificate, Father Christmas’s magic key, a tree decoration and magic flying formula reindeer food.

Father Christmas will be Makaton signing with his young visitors on Sunday 12th December. Makaton is the sign and symbol language. Signs are used with speech to help children and adults to communicate. Using signs can help children who have no speech (either because they have communication difficulties or are very young) or whose speech is unclear.

Michelle Menezes, Princesshay Centre Manager, says, “We are so happy to welcome Father Christmas to Princesshay this year and are looking forward to seeing families in the lodge making memories and enjoying some festive magic. We are pleased to support our charity, Families for Children, by donating 25% of the sales from Father Christmas to support their important work.”

Adding to the sparkle of over 300 Christmas lights, Princesshay will also be decorated by the popular Charity Christmas trees on Roman Walk. 35 charity Christmas trees will light up from 18th November reminding everyone of the amazing work of local charities.

From Friday 12th November, a festive themed, open-air Snow House bar, private snow dome pods and outdoor seating will return to Princesshay for Christmas. The bar will be serving a range of favourite festive tipples and visitors will be treated to a choice of Christmas eats from crepes and churros, cheese and fudge to traditional German Bratwurst from the extended market stalls situated on Bedford Street and Eastgate.

The Exeter Chiefs Trading Post will also be on site with perfect gifts for rugby fans and late-night shoppers can browse for the perfect gifts until 8pm on Thursday 9th, 16th and 23rd December.
