Leading South West building services engineering company EX2 Group has welcomed three new apprentices this week, as they begin their professional training in Electrical Installation with Exeter College.

Christian, Alfie, and Harvey were welcomed to the Exeter offices by James Rayner (right), Project Manager. The apprentices will combine on-site experience with classroom learning as they work towards their Level 3 Electrical Installation qualifications. If you think you know all about apprenticeships, then maybe it’s time to think again, according to South Devon College.

“Most people think you can only do apprenticeships in hospitality, construction or beauty, but here at South Devon College we offer a wide range of apprenticeships, including higher and degree apprenticeships,” explained Ben Pountney, Operational Manager for Apprenticeships.

“Programmes are developed with employers to ensure students gain relevant skills for the local market.”

BBC Director-General Opens Inspiring New Exeter College Studio

Artwork unveiled at site of striking new Council housing project in Whipton

Colourful artwork created by schoolchildren and residents has been unveiled at the site of a stunning new environmentally-friendly housing project for Exeter City Council.

Ninety two Passivhaus new homes are being created at The Gardens, Vaughan Road, Whipton, by the Council-owned development company Exeter City Living.

Sixty of the new homes will be affordable and retained as new Council housing, and 32 homes will be for market rent.

Exeter retiree cycles 106 miles to raise money for local primary school

Robert Mansell, 78, a resident at Exeter retirement community Millbrook Village, took part in the Mallorca 312 cycling challenge to raise money for Winkleigh Primary School.

The Mallorca 312 is the longest cycle event for sportive cyclists held in Spain, covering three possible distances of 200, 150 and 106 miles through the Balearic Island, including 30 miles through the Tramuntana mountains – the highest mountains on the island.
