Survey assesses impact of organised crime on Devon and Cornwall’s farming communities

Organised crime may be having an increasing impact on rural communities across the UK.

In its 2020 Rural Crime Report, NFU Mutual recorded a nine per cent increase in rural crime with some of the highest increases (14 per cent) in the South West.

South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the phased rollout of body-worn cameras for staff on board trains and at stations across most of its network.

The cameras are being introduced to deter and reduce anti-social behaviour on trains and stations, as well as to act as a deterrent to assaults, threats and abuse experienced by staff.

Tesco is making it easier than ever for shoppers in Devon to give a helping hand to food banks and charities feeding people in their community.

The Tesco Food Collection is taking place in every large Tesco store from June 30 to July 2, and shoppers are being urged to donate long-life food to support local food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network and thousands of frontline charities supplied by FareShare. The Queen’s Baton Relay will make its way through Exeter on Monday, ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
