Teddy Swims to headline TK Maxx presents Live at Powderham 2026

GRAMMY nominated vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims today announces a run of outdoor shows and festivals across the UK and Ireland for summer 2026 including a date in the Devon countryside.

The international chart-topper will head to TK Maxx presents Live at Powderham on Thursday June 25 as the latest headline artist announced for the live music event.

Growing Communities Fund launched

Projects that support Devon communities have the opportunity to apply for funding through a new scheme.

Grants ranging from £500 to £3,000 are available through the Growing Communities Fund .

The new fund has been established by Devon County Council to assist projects which directly benefit communities, either by helping to build self-reliance and resilience, tackle hardship such as food and fuel inequality, improve mental health and wellbeing, address loneliness and isolation, or respond to the climate emergency.

Free cycling festivals for the whole family this summer

Exeter and Cranbrook residents looking for something to do this summer are in for a treat thanks to a series of free cycling festivals taking place in the city during the school holidays.

There are six events taking place throughout the summer, each one in a different location across the city and Cranbrook and all completely free for the whole family.

The events have been developed by Live and Move – the Sport England Local Delivery Programme running in Exeter and Cranbrook that aims to encourage residents to move more in their everyday lives – and Active Devon.

Youth Hub Devon to host training and employment event

School leavers will have the opportunity to find out about the range of training and employment options available to them at a special event next month.

Youth Hub Devon , based in Dix’s Field in Exeter city centre, will host the event from 11am - 3.30pm on Wednesday 3 August and Youth Hub Advisors will be on hand for appointments until 6.30pm.

School leavers and young people aged 16-24 years old will be able to speak to employers, training providers and support services at the event. Parents and carers are also welcome to attend.

Taylor Wimpey Exeter is delighted to have presented Cranbrook Running Club with a £500 donation to support their Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

The contribution by Taylor Wimpey Exeter was used towards the planning of the event where runners raced through Cranbrook Country Park to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Full fibre broadband ready for service for thousands more premises

Another 2,500 homes and business across Devon and Somerset are now able to access full fibre broadband thanks to the ongoing rollout through the Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme.

Internet Service Provider Airband has announced the latest figures as it continues its gigabit capable fibre build in the region on behalf of CDS.

Access to the live network is now available in the Cheddon Fitzpaine area of Taunton in Somerset, as well as premises in some areas of Exminster, Kenn, Kennford, Kenton, Powderham, Starcross, Teignmouth and Tiverton.

Former homeless man nominated for award

A man who found himself homeless after leaving prison has told how the Exeter resettlement project which took him in has given him a new purpose in life.

Dan Martins, 38, was offered accommodation at BCHA’s Gabriel House in Smythen Street in May last year, after leaving prison and being housed in numerous B&Bs.

Van loads of Vital supplies including wheelchairs, mobility aids and bedding have been donated and delivered to Ukrainian hospitals thanks to the efforts of a local volunteer and staff at Devon’s recycling centres.
