In July EX2 Group was proud to support Building Greater Exeter’s Work Experience Week, an inspiring initiative aimed at introducing Year 10 students to careers in the built environment.

Contract for city dining quarter awarded

Aviva Investors have awarded ISG the contract to create a unique dining destination in the heart of Exeter. The £12 million project sees the redevelopment of the neo-classical Guildhall in the city’s cultural quarter into a series of high-specification restaurants, as well as the reconfiguration and improvement of public realm space. Further strengthening ISG’s existing relationship with Aviva Investors, this latest scheme involves the transformation of the 36,500 sq ft site, which encompasses the iconic 19th century Queen Street façade of the Guildhall, the 13th century St Pancras Church...

Apple Pay coming to the UK

Apple has announced that starting next month, Apple Pay will be available to customers in the UK, bringing them the easy, secure and private way to pay.

Whether buying groceries, grabbing coffee, picking up lunch or taking the Tube, UK shoppers will soon be able to make many of their daily purchases with Apple Pay. At launch, over 250,000 locations will accept Apple Pay, with support from eight of the UK’s most established banks, across all of the major credit and debit card networks.

Deadlines for this year’s official tourism awards for Visit Devon and other counties Cornwall, Dorset and the South West, have been extended after websites receive record 13,475 views. With judging of this year’s tourism awards due to start in July, tourism businesses across the region are being offered a short extension until Friday 19th June for submitting entries, with Friday 26th June the last submission date for those who register on or before Friday 19th June. SW jobs optimism among best in UK

The jobs market continues to thrive in the South West, according to Manpower, the world’s workforce experts. With an Outlook of +9%, a two point increase on last quarter, hiring intentions in the region stand well above the national average of +6%.

The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is based on responses from 2,100 UK employers. Weddings theme for Zeal Monachorum Flower Festival

A flower festival and garden fete will be part of a weekend of events at St Peter’s Church in Zeal Monachorum from Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June. The church will be open each day for the flower festival which have a theme of ‘weddings’. More than 10 wedding dresses will be displayed belonging to ladies who were married at St Peter’s with the floral displays around the church depicting the colours of the bouquets. Mud walk event along the Exe

Dig out your wellies for a fact-finding mud walk along the Exe Estuary led by East Devon District Council’s Countryside Rangers on Saturday June 20.

You’ll discover all about the creatures that make their homes in and on the mud and, what’s more, the event is free and open to all.

Following the relaunch of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund in April, the builders merchant is now calling for groups and charities that support animal welfare issues in the Exeter area to get in contact and tell them what help they need.
