Over 80 business leaders from across the city attended Exeter Chamber of Commerce’s recent monthly networking lunch with guest speaker, Exeter MP, Ben Bradshaw.
Ben was voted back in again in on 8th June for the 6th consecutive time with an increased majority vote and the lunch gave members the opportunity to raise issues and ask questions about what is affecting their businesses. Ben answered questions from members on topics including business rates, disability work initiatives in Exeter and education budget cuts.

Exeter MP, Ben Bradshaw, will officially open a new social enterprise project.
The innovative business will not only offer high quality refurbished bikes and servicing but also valuable training opportunities to some of the most marginalised members of society. This is a joint venture between two charities: Julian House and Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI).

Exeter's Ben Bradshaw has consolidated his majority for Labour polling 34,346 votes in the General Election.
His nearest rival James Taghdissian received around half that number with 18,219.
Mr Bradshaw tweeted afterwards: "Thanks so much to all our wonderful @exeterlabour volunteers & the people of Exeter for an amazing result. 16,000 majority. 62% of the vote."
He said shortly after the count: "Theresa has been exposed as being brittle and an empty vessel and nothing to offer the country and the public have delivered their verdict."

Seen 193 local people hae register on the scheme
Held 6 employability workshops, attended by over 40 people in total
Successfully placed 18 local people into long term employment
Worked with 50 businesses, including, Reiss, Hotel Chocolat and Debenhams, to help them source appropriate candidates to their workforces

Five local jobseekers have successfully completed an intensive employability training course with Prospects and received recognition from local MP, Ben Bradshaw. The course equipped them with the skills needed to get a job, as well improving their English and maths functional skills. A Devon MP is appealing to local businesses to support the next phase of a project helping young people who are out of work to kick-start their future.
The Business Powering Employment Programme (BEEP) gives 16-24 year olds in Devon the confidence and skills to secure jobs and training opportunities.
BEEP helps young people learn through performance coaching techniques and then on-going support from a mentor. Over 95 per cent of those who have been on the programme have gone on to secure work and training opportunities.
