A thought-provoking photograph captured by a researcher at the University of Exeter has won the ‘Unexpected’ category in Alzheimer’s Society’s first ever image competition.

The spiritual scene, which was taken in a person with dementia's bedroom in Andalusia, Spain, shows how a care home resident had tucked different images of local Virgin Mary statues behind their falls alarm to give them spiritual protection.

Gender differences in behaviours linked to faster cognitive decline revealed in research

Men who experience behaviour changes including apathy or having false beliefs and perceptions in later life are at risk of faster cognitive decline than women, according to new research.

A study led by Charles University, in collaboration with the University of Exeter and King’s College London, looked at changes in behaviour in cognitively healthy people aged 50 and older, which have previously been linked to a higher risk of developing brain problems.

Nursing and medical students from the University of Exeter put their learning into action by volunteering in the delivery of first-rate medical care to festival goers at this year's Glastonbury event.

Poor sleep in the over 50s is linked to more negative perceptions of ageing, which in turn can impact physical, mental and cognitive health, new research has revealed.

Talented students from low-to-middle-income countries will study at the University of Exeter thanks to new Green Futures Scholarships.
