Torquay home fixture moved and live on Sky

The visit of Torquay United to St James Park in the New Year has been moved to Monday 28th January ( kick-off 7.45pm ).

The fixture was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday 26th January, but the fixture has today been altered in order to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Torquay and Exeter City are also due to meet this weekend at Plainmoor in the reverse of the fixture, bringing up the halfway mark of the league season. Exeter City’s away allocation of 1450 for Saturday has now completely sold out.

Stagecoach SW services suspended as heavy snowfall continues

Buses have been cancelled as heavy snowfall continues to cause problems on roads across Devon.

A statement from Stagecoach South West said:

In consultation with Devon & Cornwall Police we can now confirm that as weather conditions have deteriorated we will not be operating the following services for the remainder of the day:

  • The South West Falcon, operating between Devon, Somerset and Bristol with exception as shown below

Police appeal to trace missing woman

Police in Torquay are appealing for information to trace a missing woman. Martine Blaire was reported missing on Tuesday 19 August from Torquay. She is considered vulnerable, and she hasn’t been seen for 10 days although police did make phone contact on 27 August. Martine is described as being, and white woman, aged 35 years, approximately 5ft 3in in height, slim build with shoulder length brown hair sometimes in a pony tail.

She was last seen wearing a Khaki coat jeans and trainers.

Anyone who knows Martine or who sees her is asked to contact police on 101 quoting police...

A hairdresser who graduated on an apprenticeship before opening her own salon seven months ago is now looking to mentor a trainee herself. Peacefully on 6 May 2014 at home, Bill aged 73 years.

Teignmouth lad Luke Friend and Scotland’s Nicholas McDonald will join forces for a one-off gig at Torquay’s Riviera Centre this Saturday 18 January.

This is the first time Luke and Nicholas, who came third and second on The X Factor respectively, will have shared the stage since the show ended in December last year. Witness appeal after serious collision in Torquay

Officers investigating a serious collision are asking for any witness to contact the police.

On Sunday 25 August 2013 a collision took place directly outside the Princess Theatre, Torquay just before 7pm.

Two pedestrians, a three year-old girl and a man, aged 36, were injured when they were in collision with a silver coloured Ford Tansit minibus.

The toddler suffered facial bruising while the adult was taken to Torbay District Hospital where he was treated for serious but not life threatening injuries including broken bones to his face and a head injury.
