Construction Consultants Haldons Ltd. present a cheque of £1000 to Combe Pafford in Torquay, a school which caters for pupils with learning and physical difficulties.

Haldons Ltd multi-disciplinary consultancy donated the funds to sponsor a child to take part in the school's annual residential trip.

East Devon residents are being asked to have their say on how much the council should pay towards the council tax bills of working age householders on low incomes who live in the district.

East Devon District Council began a ten week consultation on Monday June 27 on proposed changes to the working-age Council Tax Reduction Scheme which sets out a framework on how much council tax support can be claimed by these households.

Recent months have seen a surge in local initiatives to assist asylum seekers and refugees at home and abroad. This is in sharp contrast to the slow and minimal government response to the crisis.

Cancer support group relaunches

FORCE is relaunching its support group for younger women with breast cancer.

From November 11, drop-in sessions will be held at the charity’s Support and Information Centre in Exeter on the second Wednesday of each month from 1.30pm-3pm.

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women but it is less common in the under 50s for whom it presents specific issues.

The Younger Women’s Breast Cancer Support Group (under 50s) offers an opportunity to talk in a supportive and informal environment.
