The Aviation Skills Partnership (ASP), RAF St Mawgan and CIOS LEP are pleased to unveil plans for an aviation academy to be built at the RAF St Mawgan site in Cornwall

An Expression of Interest Event is due to be held at RAF St Mawgan on 13th June 2018. The event, held in partnership by RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (CIOS LEP) and ASP will provide an opportunity for those in attendance to view outline plans for an Aviation Academy to be created at RAF St Mawgan. Christopher Hunt, 34, from Dartmouth has been unemployed for an extended period of time after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. After receiving the all clear, Christopher was keen to get back into the work place.

Jake Evans has been named Apprentice of the Year at the Hendy 2017 Service Awards for his outstanding work at Hendy Honda Exeter.

Exeter mathematicians recognised as rising stars of research

Two rising research stars at the University of Exeter have been awarded prestigious fellowships from the Medical Research Council (MRC).

SWH Group’s National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) has just received accreditation from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) for a further three years.

People with dementia gain from learning self-management skills

People with early-stage dementia benefit when they are empowered to manage their own condition, a study led by researchers at the University of Exeter has found.

Research involving Bangor University and published in the journal International Psychogeriatrics, found that attending weekly ‘self-management’ group sessions which encouraged socialisation, discussion, problem solving and goal setting fostered independence and promoted social support amongst people with dementia.

Skills shortages continue to hamper growth in SW

The RICS UK Construction Market Survey, Q4 2015, shows labour shortages were reported by 66% of construction professionals across the UK to be the most significant barrier to growth in the last quarter of 2015.

An independent charity, which provides training and personal development for young people aged 10-26 in rural communities, is celebrating the news that it had won a £5,000 OneFamily Foundation Community Award to help develop a new HQ and training centre. The Devon federation of young farmers' clubs', which runs 38 clubs across the region, recently acquired a redundant building as a base for its new headquarters.
