Ben Moon says he can feel a mood change with the Exeter Chiefs camp as the start of the new Aviva Premiership season draws ever closer.

Rob Baxter’s side wrap up their pre-season campaign this weekend with the final instalment of this year’s Westcountry Challenge Cup – a competition the Devon club have already secured with a game to spare.

Last weekend’s narrow 31-33 victory over Gloucester ensured the Chiefs made it three wins from three in pre-season, having already seen off the Cherry and Whites and Bath on home soil in recent weeks.

This Saturday, Moon will be...

It was an historic night for Georgia, who almost certainly secured their qualification for Rugby World Cup 2019 by doing enough yesterday at Sandy Park to finish third in Pool C, but it was by no means a straightforward victory as Namibia fought them all the way in a match that eventually came down to a one-point margin and included four yellow cards.

Prince Harry was at Sandy Park to see a contest that defied all predictions as Georgia dominated every statistic but for large portions of the match were unable to convert them into points.

All eyes will be on Exeter today as Prince Harry is set to attend the Rugby World Cup Pool C match between Georgia and Namibia at Sandy Park (kick off 8pm).

This is the first time the honorary president of the Rugby World Cup has watched a match which doesn't involve England in this year's tournament.

During his visit the prince will also meet a group of young people who have benefited from the local Rugby Empowering Employment programme, which helps 16 to 24 year olds who have had problems finding work.

If you didn’t manage to get ticket for the match, the Exeter...

Exeter Chiefs were indebted to a late penalty from replacement Will Hooley to ensure they secured victory over rivals Gloucester in their latest Westcountry Challenge Cup encounter.

Having already seen off the Cherry & Whites and Bath on home soil, Rob Baxter’s side ensured the newly-created Cup would be heading to Sandy Park, even though they still have a game to play in the competition away to Bath next week.

Having dominated the early exchanges to lead through converted tries from Thomas Waldrom and Luke Cowan-Dickie, the Chiefs allowed their hosts to hit back before...

Walkers raise £2,000 for Exeter Foundation

The Exeter Foundation’s annual Big Walk has raised over £2,000 for the charity.

On September 20th, nearly 100 participants walked 10 miles from Sandy Park, through Exeter’s Riverside Valley Park and back to the Rugby World Cup venue.

Building on the success of previous events, walkers enjoyed a Sandy Park pasty and drink on their return and the New Zealand v Argentina World Cup game was screened.

Exeter Rugby Club Deputy Chief Executive and Exeter Foundation Trustee, Keiron Northcott, said: “On behalf of the Exeter Foundation, I’d like to congratulate all the...

As the smallest of 11 host cities for Rugby World Cup matches, Exeter is making the biggest impact.

Sandy Park Stadium will be hosting two further matches during the event, Namibia v Georgia on Wednesday 7 October and Italy v Romania on Sunday 11 October.

On social media fans across the country have been congratulating the city on the effort being made.

Sarah Stanbury said: “Well done on all your advertising! Been to two other host cities in the last month and there is nothing about RWC2015”, Brian Moy commented on Twitter; “You have done the best job of keeping...

History was made yesterday when Exeter played host to its first Rugby World Cup game.

In front of just over 10,000 people, Tonga bounced back from their opening game defeat to Georgia to re-establish themselves firmly back in the mix In Pool C following their 35-21 victory over Namibia at Sandy Park.

The South Sea Islanders produced a strong first half showing to lead 22-7 at the turn thanks in the main to tries from Telusa Veainu, Jack Ram and Latiume Fosita Namibia – who lost to defending champions New Zealand in their opening match – countered with a converted score for...
