They’re back – Burn the Curtain return with their rambling alfresco museum-experience in Green Circle Parks Mincinglake, Riverside and Ludwell Valley this September and October. They’re inviting you to step outdoors into a fantastical experience and discover a side to your local park that you’ve never seen before!

Council commits to reopening Riverside pool in 2020 and says the facility will be better than ever 

Councillors have reaffirmed their commitment to reopening the pool at the Riverside Leisure Centre as soon as crucial repair works are completed.

Leading councillors took part in a site visit to see progress on work to repair major structural weaknesses at the building which were discovered following a major fire in 2017.

The on-site team explained how detailed surveys have found significant, major defects in the building which will require the roof structure and pool surround area to be rebuilt.

New art residencies will help people discover riverside parks

Two artists are creating opportunities for people to explore, reflect on and shape the future of Exeter’s green spaces.

The artwork is part of an overall plan to improve the Riverside Valley Park, which is loved by visitors and residents of Exeter alike.

Exeter City Council, which owns the land, has identified ways to improve the Park, set out in the Riverside and Ludwell Valley Park Masterplan. Suggestions include more opportunities for adventurous play, new orchards and flower-rich meadows.

Major fire at Riverside Leisure Centre

Ten pumping appliances are attending a fire at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Cowick Street, Exeter.

The fire was reported in the first floor sauna, and the health suite was confirmed as well alight.

Appliances are attending from Danes Castle, Middlemoor, Topsham, Exmouth, Crediton, Ottery St Mary, Cullompton, Teignmouth, Bovey Tracey and the aerial appliances from Torquay and Exeter.

There is a lot of smoke from the building. Twenty people were removed from the swimming pool and the leisure centre has been evacuated.

A Fundraising Event has been planned for Exeter Forest School Kindergarten, to raise funds for a new outdoor classroom, to enable young children to learn and experience the outdoors.

Work to go ahead at Exeter railway arches

Work to prevent access and stop anti-social behaviour taking place under the railway arches in St Thomas is to go ahead.

Exeter City Council has approved £50,000 funding for the arches to be properly fenced off.
