The graduation extravaganza held at River Cottage HQ was marked with a banquet cooked by Chef Tutors, speeches given by Steve Lamb followed by a certification ceremony presented by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. The graduates then danced the night away as they celebrated their achievements. River Cottage Cookery School in Axminster, Devon has beaten dozens of other cookery schools from across the nation to win the accolade of Best Large Recreational Cookery School at the British Cookery School Awards.

Results were announced on Monday 17 November at the awards ceremony held at Porchester Hall in London. The event was hosted by head judge and BBC Radio 2’s food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden.

River Cottage Chefs’ School are celebrating with the first of their apprentice chef graduates after completing an intensive 12-month programme.

The 11 ecstatic graduates were the first of 74 apprentices currently studying on the Young Chef Apprentice Scheme – a professional and personal journey that aims to equip young learners with the skills they need to enter the catering industry. They marked their final day by cooking a banquet for themselves and their tutors to showcase the best of their culinary skills.
