A new exhibition will be on display from Thursday 8 to Wednesday 21 May featuring the work of a well-known local Exmouth artist at A la Ronde, the National Trust property near Exmouth.
‘Times and Seasons’ by John Onley is a series of paintings based on landscape and townscape studies at home and abroad worked in pastel, acrylics and mixed medias. He tries to simplify natural forms, sometimes to the point of abstraction, to emphasise the patterns and shapes of the landscape, and to achieve vibrant colour combinations. The Devon Art Society are holding their spring exhibition at St Anne’s Hall, Babbacombe until Sun 11 May. The hall will be open every day 10am - 6pm. Admission is free. The Society has a long tradition of exhibiting going back 102 years. They will be showing and selling original paintings, watercolours, pastels, oils, acrylics, mixed media, and more.

Exmouth artist Michael Buckland is known locally for his vibrant and colourful paintings. This will be evidenced in this exhibition of new paintings of A la Ronde. Included will be exterior views of the house, the apple orchard and visitors enjoying a cream tea under the ash tree. Interior subjects will show the quirky and individual character of the rooms. Light reflected from mirrors and windows has caught his painter's eye.
Local watercolour artist, Rachel Toll, is holding an exhibition of her work in Exeter’s Boston Tea Party on Queen Street which is open until 4 January.
Rachel hopes that customers coming into the popular café will also be tempted to pick up a painting as she will be donating 20 per cent of sales to local charity, St Petrock’s, which supports people who are homeless.
Inspired by Devon’s beautiful surroundings, Rachel’s watercolours feature the coast and plants that grow here.
