Devon and Cornwall Police are growing more concerned for the safety of Magdalena Krawiec (pronounced Crab-ic), a 20-year-old Polish woman missing from Paignton and are renewing their appeal to the public to help trace her. Magdalena was last seen on CCTV leaving the place she was staying in Paignton at 8pm on Tuesday 14 May 2013. Police concerned for missing Paignton woman

Update 30 April: Found: Katherine Hooper has been found safe and well, says Devon and Cornwall Police. She was located in the Paignton area by a member of the public, who alerted police to her location. She was taken to hospital for a full check up. Devon & Cornwall Police thanks everyone for their interest.

Zip-lines for tigers!

Paignton Zoo in Devon has built a zip-line for its tigers.

Keepers at the park – a registered charity – have devised the thrill ride with help from woodland adventure company Treesurfers.

In fact, it is the big cats’ lunch that will ride the zip-line – all the tigers have to do is catch it.

Senior Head Keeper of Mammals Matthew Webb explained: “We have used things such as hanging bags in the past to encourage them to get a bit more physical. Now we have the zip line, down which we can send meat for the tigers to chase and jump at.

Police appeal for help following spate of shoplifting offences in Devon

Police are appealing to the public for help following a string of shoplifting offences in Devon. The four offences, which police believe involve the same men, occurred on the same day, 1 February, at shops in Exmouth, Teignmouth, Paignton and Torquay. At the Co-op in Dartmouth Road, Paignton at noon two men entered the rear of the store and stole 27 cases of cigarettes, cigars and tobacco products and four cases of chewing gum, total value in excess of £2,000. Police and students complete police car restoration

Police and students in south Devon have undertaken a drive to restore a police car to its former glory.

The 1999 Ford Escort was retired out of police service in early 2006 and lay unused and deteriorating until 2008 when it was acquired by the police Heritage and Learning Resource (the Historic Collections of Devon & Cornwall Police) based in Okehampton.
