23/03/2014 - 2:00pm

Northcott Theatre, Exeter

A dance theatre adaptation after Hans Christian Andersen.

This touching tale of an impoverished young street girl’s hopes and dreams is beautifully told through dance, song and original live music.

A snowy stage sets the scene for an icy cold winter’s eve, where the little match girl paces the emptying streets, shivering and desperate, trying to sell her matches. With just one final match flame to keep her warm, she sees a vision of her beloved grandmother, who guides her up into the night sky and takes her to the moon. Now, on a clear night, if you look closely, you might...

Reduced Shakespeare Company

Event Date:
02/03/2014 - 5:00pm
Venue:

Written by Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor.

From fig leaves to final judgement. Following the sell-out success of their 2013 UK Tour, it's apocalypse now as the three cultural guerrillas of The Reduced Shakespeare Company set their reductive sights on the good book with The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged).

Yes, it's an affectionate, irreverent roller coaster ride from fig leaves to Final Judgment as the bad boys of abridgement tackle the great theological questions: Did Adam and Eve have navels? Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston? And why isn't...

Running from Tuesday 3rd to Saturday 7th December 2013, The Recruiting Officer is a true delight for theatre-lovers, with everything from swashbuckling soldiers to women dressed as men. The play is a Salisbury Playhouse Production, originally written by George Farquahar and produced by Gareth Minchin, also a member of the cast.

Described as “a regional theatre with all guns blazing” by the Daily Telegraph, the Salisbury Playhouse puts on a raucous and wonderfully English comedy of bawdiness, disastrous sexual exploits and meddling servants. As well as a beautifully designed and...
