Oxjam Exeter returns

On Saturday 1st October, Exeter’s 4th Oxjam music festival will be buzzing through the walls of Timepiece Bar, Timepiece Courtyard and Old Timers Bar.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Oxfam’s national music festival, Oxjam, and the team of eager volunteers are already working as hard as ever to make Exeter’s Takeover the best yet!

To help make Oxjam Exeter Takeover a success, the volunteers are currently organising a series of fun, exciting and even challenging fundraising events, including: a Buskathon with a number of talented, local artists; a pre Oxjam ‘warm up’...

Is there really such a thing as a hillbilly band covering rock classics? You betcha. They are called Hayseed Dixie and they play Rockgrass.

Barley Scotch is on lead vocals, fiddle and guitar. The Reverend Don-Wayne Reno is on banjo, Deacon Dale Reno is on mandolin and guitar and Jake ‘Bakesnake’ Byers is on acoustic bass. Hayseed Dixie are an awesome live band, who have, to date, released 9 albums. The latest, Killer Grass was released in 2010. A live DVD entitled No Sleep ’til Liverpool is also available.

The Mocking Birds

Steve Cradock of Ocean Colour Scene recently mentioned of The Mocking Birds, who currently split their time between London and their native roots of Exeter.

The band released their debut single Choose Life back in late 2015 in association with online retailer Atom Retro and are about to announce details of a double A side single for release in July 2016.

The band recently sold out their hometown show at The Bike Shed in Exeter and began a monthly London residency at The Silver Bullet in April. Recent support for the lads has come from the likes of 6 Music & BBC...
